mayorFour years ago, our city was deeply impacted by the national recession. Unemployment was high. We were not growing and not planning for the future because the focus was on fighting to keep jobs.

Three years ago, my team met my challenge to create a multi-step blueprint for a new Jeffersonville. We named it a Pathway 2 Progress. We infused it with hope and vision for the great city of Jeffersonville. And we began the hard work of relentlessly pursuing a future of economic growth and a better quality of life that seemed far away on the horizon.

Together, our city rallied to face the circumstances and challenges before us. This Pathway 2 Progress we began has now become a mission that is still getting more exciting with each passing day.

Today, we stand together and clearly see a new view of Jeffersonville.

There has been a complete turnaround in Jeffersonville that includes 3,000 new jobs in three years and more than $40 million of investments from our existing businesses that want to grow their futures along with Jeffersonville.

I am so proud that Jeffersonville is the home of 96 percent of all jobs created in Clark County during the last three years.

It is so rewarding that Jeffersonville has been named the fourth best city in our state for job seekers.

I am so grateful that now, instead of fighting to keep our jobs, we can boast that Jeffersonville is among the cities that have the lowest unemployment rates in our state!

Take a drive around our lovely city this spring and enjoy the new view. While you are admiring what we have already achieved, you can be very confident in the knowledge that there is much more on the horizon that will be good for our city. The Path 2 Progress will continue!

It is a privilege to serve you and our great city during this time of unprecedented growth and opportunity.

Compared to what is coming soon to Jeffersonville. .. you haven't seen anything yet!

I hope to see you at Thunder over Jeffersonville!

Mayor Mike Moore

New Commercial Sign Ordinance

Graphic NEW Commercial WEB

Attention Business Owners and Sign Makers: A completely new sign standard has been adopted by the City of Jeffersonville (2015-OR-21). See the Planning Department webpage on www.cityofjeff.net in the Department Directory or call 812-280-4733 for more information. The new sign standards replace the previous General, Temporary, and Permanent Sign Standards of the Jeffersonville Zoning Ordinance. Major changes include the reduction of height for commercial signs to 8 feet, the addition of LED signs (contact us for details on restrictions for these signs), and the inclusion of two new sign types for use in the pedestrian scale zoning districts.

Over the past couple of months, the Planning Department has engaged in research on sign standards in neighboring communities, site visits to measure existing signs in Jeffersonville, and presented to City Council members the proposed changes to the sign standards. Staff has worked through revisions from these presentations and drafted a completely new sign ordinance with an accompanying graphic guide to present for favorable recommendation by the Plan Commission and adoption by City Council.
