You’ll be seeing red at Jeffersonville City Hall this week in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.  Friday, February 3rd is National Go Red Day – a program dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and its prevention. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and responsible for more deaths than all forms of cancer combined. For many, heart disease goes undetected until it is too late.

Mayor Mike Moore, his newly formed fitness council, and staff will show their support for the movement and take part in raising awareness by wearing red on Friday and lighting up City Hall red for the month of February. Red films will be placed over the landscaping lights that illuminate City Hall, casting a red glow on the building that the Mayor hopes will turn some heads and help draw awareness to the cause. The public is invited to join the Mayor and his Fitness Council at a light-up ceremony on Thursday night at City Hall. The ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM. More information about Heart Awareness Month and Go Red for Women can be found at the American Heart Association’s website, GoRedForWomen.org.
