Parks and Recreation The Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation Department operates under the authority granted by Indiana Codes 36-10-2 and 36-10-3. In 2008, the Jeffersonville City Council approved ordinance 2008-OR-004, which established City Council members as the Parks Authority, the department's governing body. The Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation Department owns a total of 27 facilities. Programming ranges from senior citizens activities at the Ken Ellis Center, youth activities and adult basketball and volleyball at Nachand Fieldhouse, summer and fall softball at Colston Park, music and theatrical performances at RiverStage and Concerts in the Park (hosted in conjunction with Jeffersonville Main Street Inc.) at Warder Park. On April 24, 2009, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources sent the Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation Department a letter confirming the acceptance of the department's Five-Year Master Plan, good through January 15, 2014. The plan intended to cover the years 2007-2011, but was extended by DNR, based on the late approval. Having an approved plan makes the department eligible to receive Land and Water Conservation Funds from the National Park Service. Parks Authority Meetings The Jeffersonville Parks Authority meets at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the Mayor's Conference Room at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Ct. The Parks Authority consists of the seven members of the Jeffersonville City Council. Parks Authority Advisory Board Meetings The Parks Authority Advisory Board meets at 2 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Second Floor Conference Room at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Ct. Facilities Advisory Board Meetings The Parks Authority Facilities Advisory Board meets on the last Thursday of each month at the Parks and Recreation Department's former main office at 1406 Frederick Ave. Programs Advisory Board Meetings The Parks Authority Programs Advisory Board meets at 1 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month at the Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave. RiverStage & Special Events Advisory Board Meetings The Parks Authority RiverStage & Special Events Advisory Board meets at 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the Second Floor Conference Room at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Ct.
